iTunes Integration

The Mac and music have been synonomous since the beginning, but with the release of the iPod and iTunes, your personal music collection was transformed. Blog.Mac takes advantage of this by fully integrating various features of iTunes into your Blog.

There are four powerful iTunes features that you can easily build into your blog:

  • iTunes Now Playing: Internet users around the world will see live updates of what's playing on your Mac right now.
  • Your Favorite Playlist: Publish your favorite playlist on your Blog; choose any playlist and allow your readers to scour the iTunes music store in their hopes of copying your great taste in tunes.
  • iTunes Top 10 RSS Feeds: Choose customized RSS feeds from Apple to see what's hot, what's new, and what you're missing in the genre of your choice.
  • iTunes Music Store Search Links: All of the music published on your blog is web-linked to the iTunes Music Store's advanced search engine.

To add these features to your blog, simply check the corresponding button on the "iTunes and iSight" panel. The code is automatically added to your blog...there's nothing else for you to do. To have your iTunes Now Playing information update automatically, select the upload frequency in preferences and let Blog.Mac run in the background while you do other things. A very small XML file will be uploaded to (and re-written to save space on) your .Mac iDisk. Anyone viewing your blog will see the information update as iTunes plays...Blog.Mac takes care of the XML file uploads and built your blog with cool update code that avoids annoying full-page refreshes.
